October 14th Game v. Taunton
Mansfield’s I-1 team faced off against Taunton
under rainy and muddy conditions at Memorial Park. Mansfield played tough and had huge defensive stops by Mark Degirolamo, Jack Colby, and Garrett Fish
thwarting many attempts near the goal line.Due to Mansfield’s defensive pressure, Nicholas Anderson nearly made 2 interceptions in the first and picked an extra point attempt later in the second half. The 2nd half press continued with excellent blocking allowing key runs by Jack Colby, Dylan Buchanan, Caden Colby, and Garrett
Fish. Mansfield completed 2 long TD runs, Dylan Buchanan (28 yrds) and Jack Colby (37 rds).Unfortunately the Hornets couldn’t catch up to Taunton and lost 18-12.

October 21 Game V. Dedham
Mansfield’s I-1 Hornets played a hard fought game against
Dedham to tie (12-12). A slow start put Mansfield behind 0-12. In their second possession, good blocking on the line by Cole Baldasarre, Max Farley, Michael Remy along with Collin Stevens and Josh Kidwell on the right side helped Mark DeGirolamo complete a long run for a touchdown. On the defense, Jack Colby prevented a touchdown and a Mark Degirolamo tackle stopped the Dedham advance. Early in the second half, Garrett Fish and Declan Rooney sacked the quarterback on 4th
down. The next set of plays was all Garrett Fish. First, a long run for a first down and then a 60 yard run for a touchdown. Despite fancy footwork by Nicholas Anderson late in the 4th quarter, the Hornets couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. Terrific stops by Colton Johnson, Declan
Rooney and Jack Colby held the game to a tie.
