Richard A. Crisp, 84, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, on Sunday April 1, 2012 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Bourne. He was the former husband of Mary Gladys (Ashnault) Crisp.
Born in Boston, MA on May 12, 1927, he was a son of the late Albert and Irene (Murphy) Crisp. He grew up and was educated in Boston.
During WWII, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Sederstrom, the USS General W.C. Langfitt, and the USS Manila Bay. On April 3, 1946, he was honorably discharged from active duty with the rank of Seaman, Second Class.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 50 years, Mr. Crisp was a retired manager for many years, having worked at the former King’s Department Store in West Roxbury and North Attleboro. He had also been employed at the former Graphic Arts in Mansfield.
Richard’s favorite times spent were those in the presence of family and friends. He enjoyed playing dominoes and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
In addition to his former wife, he is survived by his devoted children; Patricia Hickey of Maine, Susan MacPhee of Norton, Richard Crisp of Dennisport, Sandra White of Bourne, Pamela Lewis of Plainville, Maryann Auty of Maine, Tina Walter of Norton, Ronald Crisp of Barnstable and the late Robert Crisp. The brother of the late Irene Visconti, Edward Crisp and Albert Crisp, he is also survived by his cherished 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held with military honors, on Thursday April 5th at 1:30 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
