Trinity's McGuire Takes Third In Bracket At Doug Parker Wrestling Tournament
Springfield, Mass. - Trinity College sophomore Kyle McGuire (Mansfield, Mass.) finished third in the heavyweight division to lead the Trinity College Bantams to 11th place as a team in the Doug Parker Wrestling Invitational at Springfield College this afternoon. Trinity totaled 39 points, which was 3.5 behind Division II American International. Centenary (N.J.) won the team title with 166 points.
McGuire won five out of six matches with one pin, while senior co-captain William Youngblood (Bernardsville, N.J.) won two of four matches and went 1-1 in his winner's bracket. McGuire's only loss came by a 2-1 score in the winner's bracket semifinals against Rhode Island College's Brian Nicol, the No. 5-ranked heavyweight in the region. Youngblood won his first two matches by a combined score of 10-1, before losing, 6-3, in the winner's bracket semis against Roger Williams' Shane Parcel, the top-ranked 184-pounder in New England.
