Mansfield Firefighter Assault Case Sees Change of Venue

A case involving a Mansfield firefighter has been moved from Attleboro to Taunton.

To avoid a possible conflict of interest, a judge ruled Wednesday to transfer a case involving a Mansfield firefighter from Attleboro to Taunton District Court according to the Sun Chronicle.

The change of venue was requested to avoid assistant district attorneys who work with the Mansfield PD.

Ryan R. Palmeiri, 36, of Mansfield, is on trial after being arrested last Thursday after his wife obtained a restraining order after alleging she was pushed and threatened.

Palmeiri is currently being held in jail without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for March 4. Recently, he pleaded innocent to assault-related charges, witness intimidation, and kidnapping.

Mansfield FD has put Palmeiri on administrative leave pending the result of the trial.

Almost all PD and FD from Massachusetts get special treatment for crimes. I'd be very surprised if this "hero" received a similar punishment that a non town/state employee would.

This is all dependent on guilt obviously

Yes, being held in jail for one month is definitely special treatment.
