Mansfield Man Charged With Child Pornography

The United States Department of Justice is charging a Mansfield man with receiving child pornography.

A Mansfield man, who is a registered sex offender, was charged with receiving child pornography today in United States Federal Court in Boston after being arrested in Mansfield this morning at his home.

Gerald Deneault, 45, who was previously convicted in Massachusetts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, is alleged to have received  child pornography from a Canadian company on a number of occasions from June 2008 through February 2011, according to the complainment filed in federal court.

Acoording to a press release from Department of Justice, the allegation is based upon an investigation of the Canadian company, federal officers identified Deneault as being a recipient of child pornography.

During a search of his Mansfield home, federal officers allegedly seized evidence of Deneault’s receipt of child pornography, including computers and DVDs.

If convicted, according to the Department of Justice, Deneault faces a minimum mandatory of 15 years and up to 40 years in prison to be followed by up to a possible term of supervised release of life.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Kevin Niland, Inspector in Charge of the United States Postal Inspection Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Crowley of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit.
