Infielder had a big night in win over Peoria.
Mansfield's Gregory Hopkins is swinging a hot bat for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the Midwest League. The Timber Rattlers are a Single A farm team of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Hopkins, who usually plays third base, switched to second base this week and had a big night in the Timber Rattlers' 5-1 win over the Peoria Chiefs. The former Bishop Feehan and St. John's University standout went 3 for 4 with his third homer of the season, driving in four runs.
The second year pro then went 1-3 in a 3-2 win over Cedar Rapids June 30.
On the year, Hopkins was hitting .255 with three homers, 28 RBI, seven doubles and two triples going into Friday night's action. He has been battling in the clean-up spot for the Timber Rattlers.
