My name is Laura Dunn, I am the president of the Mansfield Band Parent Association. I am writing to recognize the students of the Mansfield school bands, including the Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble and Winter Guard. All of our groups have been so successful this year, I don't know where to begin! On April 7th our marching and concert ensembles competed in the NESBA (New England Scholastic Band Association) Championships. Both Ensembles placed first in their divisions making them the New England Champions! On April 18th both units traveled to the World Championships in Dayton Ohio. On Friday 4/20 Our marching group placed 10th in the world, beating out over 60 groups! This is the first time our marching group has made finals! The unit …

The Mansfield Education Foundation (MEF) is excited to announce a raffle for Big Time Rush tickets. The sold-out concert will be held at the Comcast Center in Mansfield on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 7:00pm. A very special thanks to Bruce Montgomery of the Comcast Center for donating the tickets to MEF. In addition to four (4) tickets to the show, the raffle will also include other goodies to surprise the winner. Mansfield students compete in Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild's One-Act Play Festival on Saturday in Fall River.
This weekend, members of the Qualter’s Middle School Drama Troupe will be competing in the One-Act Play Festival at Kuss Middle School in Fall River with their entry of S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders. Mansfield is one of more that 30 middle schools throughout the state competing in this annual drama festival sponsored by the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild. The event provides the students a unique opportunity to share their work with other member schools. In addition, they are evaluated for both acting and technical excellence so the entire production process is critical. Mansfield’s performance will take place on Saturday, April 28th at 1:00. Town meeting votes nearly unanimously to support the project.
The town of Mansfield voted on Tuesday to give their support to the Route 106 Mural Project. The Mansfield Mural Committee, The Mansfield Music and Arts Society and the Keep Mansfield Beautiful Organization support the project, which has been the subject of debate in the past. The main issue behind opposition to the mural in the past has been graffiti. Scott Brigante, of the MMC, said that the project will not only discourage graffiti, but also help prevent it. “Research suggest that murals discourage graffiti that taggers people who like to go out and do graffiti prefer to respect the work of other artists and don’t tag them,” he said. “They tend to target blank spaces and blank walls.” He added that the mural will also have a special …
Mansfield resident's “Adults Only" introduces new content between first and second season.
Plymouth Rock Creative (PRC), a digital production company and IP creative house founded in 2011 in Massachusetts, recently announced that its first Web TV comedy series “Adults Only,” will be adapted into a comic book that will be released digitally. Jason M. Burns, creator of the comedic web TV series “Adults Only,” and artist Armando Zanker, will begin production of the comic that will precede the second season of the series. The comic will feature new content that will take place after the end of the first season and before the beginning of a second season. Children's classes now available.
The Mansfield Music and Arts Society is enrolling for summer classes for children ages eight to 12 years old. The class is being taught by Kelly Warriner, a teacher at Jordan Jackson. Warriner headed the summer's production of Trapped in the TV. The one week long classes will be held in July at the MMAS Black Box Theater located at 377 North Main Street in Mansfield. Classes are limited in size and enrolling now. For more information parents can visit the MMAS website www.mmas.org.
