Rex Trailer Dies at 84; Local TV Icon

Trailer hosted a children's television show in the 1950s.

Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, died on Jan. 9, according to his website. “Rex Trailer left this earth peacefully last night surrounded in love and song by his family. Rex had been in Florida for the holidays when he became ill into the New Year. While everyone’s prayers and support have been of great comfort to Rex, he decided it was time to go home. Rex and family thank all of you and love you,” a statement on his website reads. Trailer hosted “Boomtown” a children’s show with a western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974, according to WBZ-TV. Mansfield Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation Window Winners

Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Mansfield announces its winners for 2012.

Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Mansfield has concluded another successful holiday window painting contest and fundraiser. More than 26 Mansfield businesses donated more than $3,400 to CSF to have their windows painted. Their donations are designated for the June 2013 scholarships awards. Anonymous judges from the Mansfield Music and Arts Society determined the winners. The judges looked for composition, use of space, colors, and artistic ability. Bon Jovi Returning to Gillette Stadium in Summer 2013

Bon Jovi will be in Foxborough on July 20, 2013 to perform at Gillette Stadium as part of his new tour, "BON JOVI Because We Can - The Tour."

Adding to its already stellar lineup of summer concerts, Gillette Stadium announced Sunday that Bon Jovi will be returning to Foxborough on July 20, 2013 for his "BON JOVI Because We Can - The Tour." Bon Jovi will take the stage in Foxborough one week before Taylor Swift's two shows at Gillette Stadium and just over one month before Kenny Chesney's annual two-day New England Country Music Festival. Bon Jovi has enjoyed his time in Foxborough, performing in front of sold out crowds at Gillette Stadium in 2003 and 2010. Tickets for the July concert will go on sale early in 2013. Mansfield Elementary Holiday Concerts: 2012-2013

The following is a listing of concerts held at the Jordan Jackson Elementary School in Mansfield.

The following was submitted by Jordan Jackson Principal Teresa Murphy. The Jordan/Jackson School Chorus, Band and Orchestra have been in full swing for the past several weeks. The commitment, passion, and love of music shown by the students and their instructors is an inspiration!   We want to clarify information about the Jordan/Jackson School performing arts programs for this school year.      Although the winter concert has been held in December for the last several years, the decision was made last spring that the concert would be scheduled in January. The 200 fourth- and fifth-grade students who participate in chorus meet during one of their recess periods each week. The first time the chorus sings together as a whole group will be on…

Mansfield Dancers To Perform "The Nutcracker" at PPAC

This weekend, two Mansfield girls will be performing in "The Nutcracker" at the Providence Festival Ballot. Mansfield residesnts Sarah O'Sullivan and Gabriana Rosariowon their roles as party girls in the first act of the play. “The Nutcracker” will be playing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14, 15 and 16 at the Providence Performing Arts Cener on Weybosset Street. Chesney Adds Second Show to 2013 Country Fest at Gillette Stadium

Country music star Kenny Chesney’s two-day ‘No Shoes Nation’ Tour stop in Foxborough will be Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24, 2013.

Country music star Kenny Chesney is returning to Foxborough for two nights in 2013, annoucing he will add a second show in August at Gillette Stadium as part of his "No Shoes Nation" tour. Chesney, along with several other country music stars, will be in Foxborough on Aug. 23-24, 2013 for the 10th annual New England Country Music Festival, better known as "Country Fest." Gillette Stadium announced Chesney added the additional show in Foxborough due to overwhelming demand for his Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 concert. Miss Cindy's Dance Studio Bringing Nearly Half a Century of Experience

Cindy Nolan shares her story of how she fell in love with dance.

Cindy Nolan, also known as Miss Cindy, has been dancing nearly all her life (well since age three, at least). Nolan said that ever since she was a child she wanted to dance. Her plan to open a dance studio started when she was very young. ‘I wanted to be a dance teacher,” she said. “Ever since I was in high school that’s all I ever wanted to do.” Nolan said she started teaching in eighth grade. At that time, she was learning from Clare O’Malley, a former Rockette. Nolan said when she was a child, she had always wanted to be a Rockette to emulate her heroine, but never made the height requirement. “When you’re a young girl you love your teacher and you want to be just like them,” she said. Taylor Swift Adds Second Show to July Concert at Gillette Stadium

Due to overwhelming demand for tickets to Taylor Swift’s recently announced RED Tour, the six-time GRAMMY winner has announced she will be adding a second show at Gillette Stadium next summer.   Swift will play Gillette Stadium on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 in 2013. Tickets for both shows go on sale Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com.
