Comparing Mansfield from 2000 to 2010

The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2010 census on Massachusetts towns yesterday, including Mansfield. According to the census information, Mansfield has changed little in the past decade. Please note that this information is for 2010, and may not be accurate today.

In 2000, the Census indicated that Mansfield had a population of 22,414. The most recent data shows an increase of 770 residents, a grand total population of 23,184 and an increase of about 3.4 percent. The total housing units in the town has also risen, from 8,120 housing units to 8,746, an increase of about 7.7 percent.

Vacant housing units also went up in 2010. There were 174 vacant housing units in 2000, which accounted fo 2.2 percent of the total housing units available. In 2010, there were 347 vacant housing units, about 4 percent of the total units available, which is an increase in vacant housing of about 1.8 percent.

The number of residents 18 years-old and over has also increased. In 2000, 15,386 residents were over 18, while in 2010, 16,413. This is an increase of about 6.7 percent.
