“She was always happy; so energetic,” said classmate Kayla Comer. “She was a hilarious person. She pushed herself to the point where she couldn’t go any more and she’d still be going.”

“She was the most outgoing person,” said classmate James Comer.

All agreed she was a dedicated student and athlete. She was a starter on the varsity Mansfield girls lacrosse team, even though she was a sophomore. She also was an honors student at Mansfield High School.

“She did way too much,” classmate Keesha Evanes said. “She never wanted to sit still, she always wanted to go out and do something and hang out with friends. She was very determined.”

Friends at the wake said that Smith had a lasting impression on them all; her personality was something truly unique.

“Everything we do is for her,” said classmate Samantha Schwartz. “When we graduate, it’s for Michaela. Years from now, we’ll never forget it.

“She had that much of an impact on each one of us,” Kayla Comer said.

“We’re kind of lost on this,” James Comer said.

“She was very dedicated,” said family friend Heidi Cerullo. “She was very funny, and I think that’s what everyone’s going to say. She was always giggling and joking around. She just liked to enjoy things.”
