Mansfield-Westwood Pediatrics Plants Garden to Help Educate
Mansfield-Westwood Pediatrics planted a garden this year to help teach children how to grow and care for themselves and the planet.
Pictured above is a vegetable garden grown by pediatricians and staff from outside of their offices at 454 Chauncy Street in Mansfield.
The practice, which is affiliated with the Pediatric Physicians Organization at Children's Hospital, uses the garden to educate patients and their families about the health qualities and wonderful taste of fresh and locally grown produce.
It is an important education effort that is consistent with the national program led by first lady Michelle Obama aimed at reducing obesity in teens and children.

"We planted a garden to help families learn about a healthy, educational, outdoor activity," the organization said on their Web site. "A garden teaches nurturing skills, gives a sense of pride in their accomplishments, introduces healthy foods and, most importantly, lets kids play in the dirt. We planted carrots, beets, beans, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, basil, parsley, oregano and rosemary in our garden."
