MBTA to Extend Hours of Rate Hike Hearing

Due to pressure from local legislatures.

The Massachusetts Board of transportation’s hearing on Jan. 24 has extended the meeting time to 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to discuss the recent statement that they may raise fares 43 percent, according to the Sun Chronicle.

The hearing will be at the Attleboro High School, and was originally slated to run from 4:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m. Originally the MBTA did not budge on the hearing time, stating that they wanted to allow bus service for the duration of the hearing.

Many state representatives all over the area expressed their displeasure with the meeting times, including Mansfield Rep. Jay Barrows.
