National Weather Service: Hazardous Weather May Lie Ahead

Snow will be followed by rain in the next few days.

The National Weather Service, located in Taunton, has issued a Hazardous Weather outlook for Southern New England, including Mansfield, and a winter weather advisory in effect from 2-6 p.m. Saturday.

The outlook, which is for Saturday through Thursday says:

"There is a high probability of accumulating snows saturday across the entire region. The greatest risk for heavy snowfalls is over Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts where three to six inches are possible."

"...However, the storm system is still over the northern Rockies and a lot can change as the storm tracks across the country today and tonight before reaching Southern New England Saturday."

The Weather Service is calling for three to six inches in Mansfield Saturday, mostly before 4 p.m. The snow will be be the second significant snowfall this week after the Shovel Town was hit with four inches last night.

Rain will fall on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Weather Service, which could create slippery conditions.
