This adaptation has a running time of 90 minutes, with no intermission. It is set in the 1950s.
The adaptation emphasizes accessible Shakespeare! No prior Shakespeare experience is required. If you have never had any contact with Shakespeare, and want to learn more prior to auditions, MMAS is offering a “Acting with Shakespeare” workshop on May 12th from 9am until noon. If you think you might be interested in attending this workshop, please contact Sarah Barlow at email@example.com.
The cast breakdown for this production is as follows. Note that this adaptation requires additional talents for those undertaking some of these roles. Although it is desirable to match these as closely as possible, we will make adjustments as necessary to match the abilities of those cast in the various roles. For instance, it is desirable that Puck both play the guitar and be able to sing, but this could also mean adding a guitar player as one of Pucks assistants, if necessary. Those auditioning for Puck should prepare a ballad to sing for auditions, either accompanying themselves on the guitar, or a cappella. Age ranges are approximate, good match-ups are more important. A detailed description of each character, as written by Shakespeare, is available here (note that not all of these characters are in this adaptation): Visit our website www.mmas.org for more informaiton.
