Pinkwashing

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We all want to take steps to protect ourselves against cancer and support the cause.  And you might think that because a cosmetic company has a pink ribbon on their label signifying that they donate to breast cancer research, that they must use safe ingredients.  Right?  Well, no.  This is called pinkwashing and some of the most popular companies do it.  Companies like Revlon, Estee Lauder, and AVON advertise these ribbons on their products and while they do donate money to cancer research they continue to use known cancer causing ingredients.  It is up to us as the consumer to be informed and make the right decisions.

Beautycounter is a company that vows to never use these harmful ingredients in their products and we live by our Never List.   I urge everyone to sign a petition and ask these companies to stop using known carcinogens click here.  Don't we deserve to use safe products on ourselves and our family?
