Gourmet Pizza Staying Open

The Mansfield business will remain open, despite failing to file a common victualler's license renewal form on time.

It looks like Gourmet Pizza is staying open, according to the Sun Chronicle. Town Manager Bill Ross allowed the restaurant to stay open until Jan. 8, after the owner nearly forgot to file the proper paperwork to renew the common victualler's license, due to expire at midnight on Dec. 31.

The Selectmen voted Wednesday night to renew the license, but warned the owner, Younes Cheikh, that they would not do so if he fails to turn in the paperwork on time again.

Cheikh explained that he did not attend a previous Selectmen's meeting because a pipe burst and flooded his house, but Chairman Jess Aptowitz said it's not an excuse because he shouldn't wait until the last minute to file the paperwork. He said he would make sure to file license renewals on time in the future.
