State Unemployment Number Goes Down Slightly in November

The state says the unemployment number for Bristol County was more than eight-percent

In November 2012 , the Bristol County area unemployment overall number was 8.4 percent, according to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development report.

The report also said rates were down in 11 areas, four areas were unchanged and seven areas were up.

Here are their unemployments rates for some of the towns in the Bristol County group were:

Attleboro 8.5 (employed 22,364, unemployed 2,079)

Mansfield 5.3 (employed 9,621, unemployed 664)

Norton 5.9 (employed 9,621, unemployed 605)

The office also reported statewide the November seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate was 6.1 percent, down 0.1 of a percentage point. 

Over the year, the Massachusetts' unadjusted rate was down 0.3 of a percentage point from the November 2011 unadjusted rate of 6.4 percent.

According to Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, the numbers are based on statistical methodologies specified by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
