Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce Getting Ready for Monte Carlo Night and More!

A look at what is happening with the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce.

The following was submitted by John Bates, Chairmen of the Board of the Tri-Town Chamber:

The Tri Town Chamber is once again well into executing its mission as the Voice of Business and the Community in Foxborough, Norton and Mansfield for 2013.

If it's spring, it must be Monte Carlo time! Indeed, Tri Town’s next major event will be our annual Monte Carlo Night and Silent Auction from 6 to 9:30 PM on May 10 at Mansfield-Foxborough Holiday Inn. Attendees are given $2000 in Funny Money to play Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Texas Hold ‘em. The public is welcome to come; we love to meet new people! Tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door: buy them now by calling the chamber or signing up through Eventbrite. For those of you who are intensely curious, all 70 silent auction items can be checked out online.

While Monte Carlo is our biggest event of the year, there are plenty of other interesting things going on with our Economic Development, Community Relations and Business to Business initiatives.

For example, in March we were pleased to host Massachusetts Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Greg Bialecki for a robust conversation about a proposed sewer project that will allow businesses in our three towns to flourish for years to come.

We had a full house. In addition to numerous senior business leaders, we entertained State Senator James Timilty, State Representatives Jay Barrows and Elizabeth Poirier, all three town managers, several selectmen, and members of local planning boards and the sewer and water commissions. Our newly elected US Congressman Joe Kennedy's office was also represented. While no decisions were reached in the meeting, the agenda has been escalated and is one step closer to approval.

In addition to the sewer project, the Chamber has also been vigorously supporting Invensys'effort to earn Tax Increment Financing (TIF) approval from the Town of Foxborough. This month our board of directors had the opportunity to hear Lynn Tokarczyk of Business Development Strategies, Inc. and Invensys' Senior Vice President of Health and Safety Steve Sacco present the plan in some detail. We are pleased that the initiative is moving forward. Invensys employs 900 in its local facilities and has long been a leader in community relations across the entire region.

Speaking of community relations: the Chamber is once again very happy to support Keep Mansfield Beautiful. We were in charge of cleaning up Corporal Hardy Conservation Area again this year. Since I participate in this myself, if I catch you dumping litter there, you will be in big trouble! We are also excited to welcome the Town of Norton into the fold, also on April 27.

If you are a business located in the Foxborough, Mansfield or Norton and would like to get to know a bunch of fellow business owners quickly, check out our upcoming workshop atHarborOneU on April 30 from 8 to 10 AM. This free event is hosted by the Chamber's Trex networking groups and will give us all a chance to help each other address issues of common interest including time management, selling and marketing. Sign up via Eventbrite.

The Chamber's Women's Link on March 8th at the Mansfield Music & Arts Society was a big hit. Donna Mac of DMAC Voice Productions presented "Fear of Speaking" to 44 attendees, including three men!  Thanks to Tri Town 2012 Business Person of the Year Gagnon Wealth Managementfor sponsoring and Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center for underwriting. The next Link is tentatively scheduled for May 30; stay tuned.

The May Tri Town Business After Hours will be held on May 8 from 5 to 7 PM at The Doolittle Home in Foxboro. As always, the event is free for our chamber members and $10 for all non-members, Please RSVP 508-339-5655 or office@tri-townchamber.org.
