More people were looking for work in Mansfield in December than were in November, according to statistics released Tuesday from the state's Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The December unemployment rate was 5.5 percent (up from 5.2 percent in November and also 5.4 percent in December of 2011).
The total number of Mansfield residents working in December was 11,924, down from 11,975 in November but up from 11,782 in December 2011.
Statewide, the unemployment rate went up from 6.6 percent in November to 6.7 percent in December. The rate was 6.9 percent in December 2011. The national December unemployment rate was 8.5 percent.
