BROCKTON, MA, ISSUED February 3, 2014…More than 100 people attended  a 50th anniversary celebration for Sharkansky, LLP (www.sharkcpa.com), one of the region’s leading CPA firms, held January 23 at the firm’s 1350 Belmont Street, Brockton, offices.

The event was hosted by Sharkansky LLP and sponsored by the Metro South Chamber of Commerce, combining an after-hours networking event with the firm’s celebration of this important milestone.  The event attracted many Chamber members and other well-wishers. Sharkansy LLP Managing Partner Joe Shulman thanked the Metro South Chamber and guests for helping celebrate the milestone, and reflected on their company’s history and how the field of accounting has changed. “At one time our industry was considered ‘numbers crunchers,’ but technology and client needs have changed that.” He said that the role of a CPA firm far eclipses merely providing numbers and tax return information, and that their role is to serve as trusted advisors and partners for the clients they serve.

The firm was founded by Robert Sharkansky on the eve of the 1964 tax filing season. He served as founding partner, and was an integral part of the firm and its growth until his retirement in 2000. There are currently seven partners. David Orloff joined in 1973, followed by Joe Shulman (1983), Howard Spiller (1983), Joyce Christensen (1984), Scott Estabrooks (1990), Jay Pike (1998) and Mitzi Hollenbeck (2003). In addition, the firm employs approximately 35 people.
