Unique (and Healthy!) Valentine’s Day Ideas

Some new unique ideas for Valentine's Day.

As we all know, Valentine’s Day has been named a Hallmark holiday that seems to be filled with candy, expensive dinners, and roses.  However, this year why don’t you do a little something different with your loved one?  We are not saying to take the typical romance out of the day, but spice it up a little with out-of-the-box ideas!  Take a look at some of these:

-          Instead of the traditional walk at sunset, try heading out earlier and taking a heart-pumping hike through the woods.  It will not only put you alone with your special someone, but also get you in touch with nature.

 -          While the 7-course indulgent French meal is a staple on this day, why don’t you prepare a healthier, simpler version of your favorite dish together with your significant other?  Not only will this save you tons of calories, it will also save you some cash as well!

-          Sick of the typical dinner and a movie date?  Well then put on your dancing shoes and make an appointment to get dance lessons instead.  You and your spouse will be able to get closer to each other, while shedding some pounds at the same time.

 -          While the heart-shaped box of chocolate is a classic Valentine’s Day purchase, why don’t you show your sweetheart that you care a little more about their health by getting them a bottle of red wine and setting up dark chocolate fondue, complete with strawberries for dipping?  The combination of the antioxidants in the wine and the chocolate will be sure to release endorphins for the remainder of the night.
