5 Things: Finals Schedule, Dog Training Demonstration, and More!

It's Monday, June 10 and here are the five things you need to know!

1. Today's Forecast From the National Weather Service

  • Today: A chance of rain, mainly after 3pm. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Tonight: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 61. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

 

2. Dog Training Demonstration

Please join the parks and recreation department for the Dog Training Demonstration "Everything you Always Wanted to Know About Your Dog But Were Afraid to Ask."  Jane Young offers information and recommendations in a participant question and answer format. 

This demonstration will be held in the Mansfield Public Library Community Room.  No registration necessary, free program.

3. Guided Nature Walk

Join the Natural Resources Trust (NRT) for a guided nature walk through two of Mansfield's picturesque conservation areas. This spring’s walk will be in the Marie Streese Conservation Area. Followed by a walk in the NRT owned Dorothy York Conservation Area. Walkers should meet at Marie Streese area at the corner of Ware and Branch Streets on June 16, 2013 at 9:00 AM.

 

4. Women’s Football Clinic with UMass Head Coach Charley Molnar at Gillette Stadium 

UMass Amherst Football Head Coach Charley Molnar invites all female football fans to a women’s only clinic at Gillette Stadium, providing fans a unique opportunity to play football on the home turf of the Minutemen and the New England Patriots, get behind-the-scenes tours, and learn some X’s and O’s from the coaching staff.

The coaching staff will provide an inside look into their actual game day plays, chalk talk meetings in the official UMass locker room, on-field skills and drills led by each position coach, as well as the opportunity to try on UMass football helmets and pads.  The clinic will follow a cocktail hour held in Gillette Stadium's exclusive Putnam Club.

All proceeds from registrations and the accompanying silent auction will benefit UMass Memorial Comprehensive Breast Center.  Speakers will also be on hand to discuss breast cancer awareness, detection and treatment.

5. Finals Schedule

Mansfield High School has released their finals schedule for underclassmen. Students will take finals between June 24 and 26 with June 27 set aside for makeup exams.
