5 Things: Town Seeks Approval for Deficit Spending for Snow Budget, Registration for Camp Soon, and More

Tonight the Mansfield boys' basketball team begin their tournament run, Town Manager William Ross will seek approval for deficit spending for the snow and ice removal budget, and registration for the town's summer camp begins on March 5.

1. Today's Forecast From the National Weather Service

  • Today: A chance of rain and snow showers before 9am, then rain showers likely. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 49. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Tonight:  Rain showers likely before 1am, then snow showers likely. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 32. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

    The Mansfield Hornets boys' basketball team will play Newton South tonight in the opening round of the MIAA Division 1 South Tournament. Tip-off is expected for 7:00 p.m. at Mansfield High School.

    3. Finance Committee Meeting Tonight

    The finance committee will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m. in room 3 a/b at Town Hall. At the meeting, Town Manager William Ross will ask for approval for deficit spending for the snow and ice budget for the rest of fiscial year 2013.

     

    4. Story Time at the Mansfield Public Library

    The Mansfield Public Library will hold story time for children ages 2 and 3 today at 11:00 a.m.

     

    5. Summer Camp Sign-up This Monday

    From the Town of Mansfield:

    Registration for the town's summer camp will begin on March 5. Residents may register at the recreation office or email the office to receive a registration form. 

    Campers between the ages of 5-12 are welcomed and the camp runs from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday at Memorial Park for an eight week program during July and August. 

    A variety of activities are offered including sports, arts & crafts, games, performances, one full field trip and one half day field trip per week, and many more exciting activities.
