Students in the summer 2012 ensemble are from Norton, Mansfield, Taunton, Foxboro, Easton, Westwood, Norwood, Franklin, Concord and Providence, Rhode Island. With a four-octave range, and over 100 years of combined playing experience, The Hornithology Ensemble plays an amazingly diverse repertoire of horn music, from Bach to the jazzier arrangements of Lowell Shaw. Individually, the members can be heard performing with top orchestras, in musical theatre orchestras and, occasionally a big band, all over New England. One of the unique qualities of the Hornithology Ensemble is that it is as deeply committed to music education as it is to the highest level of artistic musical performance.
