Five Things You Need to Know in Mansfield for Feb. 25 and 26

Learn how to attract butterflies and hummingbirds today, right in time for spring.

1.Mansfield's Our Daily Bread is distributing their food Saturday at 9 a.m. Come down for a hot meal or learn how to volunteer. This all-volunteer food pantry is one of the most vibrant organizations in Mansfield. Distributing food to Mansfield residents in need since 1997, this organization began as an outreach of the Congregational Church of Mansfield, located just two doors down, and has grown into one of the largest food distribution centers in the area.

2. The Round Table Forum is meeting on Sunday in Parsonage at 11:15 a.m.

3. You can give hope to people facing cancer and save lives by supporting the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days program. Mansfield's Liberty Tax Service will be accepting donations for the American Cancer Society starting today during regular business hours.

4. Mass Audobon's Stony Brook is hosting a lecture on Sunday at 2 p.m. concerning attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden. While there is only one type of hummingbird found east of the Mississippi (the Ruby-Throated), there are many varieties of butterflies native to New England. You will learn how to identify the adult butterflies and their larvae (caterpillars), and what to plant in your garden to naturally encourage both hummingbirds and butterflies to make your garden their home.

5. Mansfield's Liberty Tax Service's cell phones for soldiers program continues this weekend. Donate a phone and let a soldier call home.
