I had a great time at this year’s competition at Mansfield High School. Everyone involved with this event deserves recognition for helping raise over $7,000 for the Friends of Dana Farber and the Noreen Katz Nursing Scholarship Fund.

To see a community come together around a student-led activity is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Knowing that everyone present had helped raise thousands of dollars for cancer patients and their families leaves a remarkable, lasting impression. To date, the Annual Junior Jeopardy Tournament has raised a combined total of over $170,000. Funds raised benefit the
lives of cancer patients and also nursing students training to care for those living with terminal illness. The National Honors Society members from Mansfield High School donating their time to facilitate the event served as role models to their peers and also to the elementary school students participating in the competition. The Annual Junior Jeopardy Tournament is a great example of a town coming together to support each other in positively impacting neighbors across the Commonwealth.

I want to also thank the Jordon Jackson elementary school student who started this tradition 14 years ago in memory of Noreen Katz and the town of Mansfield for keeping it thriving.

With every good wish,

Senator Jim Timilty
