Soon, Mansfield residents may be able to get some wine with their medicine. On July 10, the selectmen voted 3-1-1 to allow Lauretta Okoye to sell alcohol at her business Community Care Pharmacy to open at 214 Rumford Avenue. The liquor license was the final one available.

Chairman Jess Apowitz voted no and selectmen Doug Annino abstained from voting because he helped design the building.

Selectman Olivier Kozlowski was not sure of the need for another liquor store with at least four in a half-mile radius but was willing to give the business a chance.

“While it’s new to me, if that’s the business model that you are contemplating, it’s not government's place to say we hate your business model,” Kozlowski said.

Attleboro Farmer’s Market Enters Fifth Week

The Attleboro Farmers Market opening time of 9 a.m. has been confusing to those early-bird customers that are used to the last season’s opening at an hour earlier. The Market's rules and regulations, as well as the permit issued by the city, state that there are to be no sales before 9 a.m., our opening time. This allows for all our vendors to be set up and ready at the same time. There is an increased safety issue if any customers are inside the vendor area before the 9 a.m. opening. We ask that our customers please respect the 9 a.m. opening time and stay outside of the vendor area.

Seekonk State Rep Pushes For Bill to Allow Earlier Sunday Liquor Sales

Seekonk State Rep. Steve Howitt is hoping a bill he introduced at the state house will help area liquor stores stay on par with bordering Rhode Island.

According to the Sun Chronicle, Howitt's bill would allow the sale of liquor at 10 a.m. on Sundays instead of noon. The bill comes at the same time Rhode Island is introducing a similar bill.

Find Waldo in Dedham Square

Where's Waldo? In Dedham Square, of course.  The Blue Bunny Bookstore is hosting a hunt throughout Dedham Square to find the famous children’s book character in the red and white striped shirt and black-rimmed specs.

Waldo figures will be hidden in twenty different local businesses throughout Dedham Square this month, and those who spot him can win prizes, including stickers, book coupons and more.
