Mansfield Sees Minimal Power Loss From Storm

With the worst of the storm out of the way, Town Manager Bill Ross reported few problems and power outages related to the snowstorm sweeping though the northeast.

Noting that the town is in good shape, most of the outages occurring in Mansfield were quickly repaired during Friday afternoon and evening.

At 12:45 p.m., there was an outage that lasted 25 minutes on Bonney Lane and Erik Road, effecting about 250 customers.

Later in the evening at 9:00 p.m., there was a 75 minute power outage on the Otis Street end of Balcolm Street, effecting 78 customers. An additional outage on Balcom Street lasted 40 minutes and effected 78 customers.

There were some scatted low wires and service at a home on Mill Street is being repaired. One of the two 115 kV lines that services Gilbert Street went down but the service was transferred and residents effected may of experienced a slight outage. The service has returned to normal.

As of 11:18 a.m. Saturday morning, there were scattered power outages, with most customers only experiencing short disruption according to the Town of Mansfield's official Twitter account.

While power is back for almost all of Mansfield, there is still plenty of work with clean up and plowing. Town Manager Bill Ross is asking residents to remain at home.

“We encourage people to stay home where they are safe and warm so we can get the streets cleared and not have to rescue anyone,” Ross said, “Also, be careful with fireplaces and space heaters and, if they can do it safely, dig out your fire hydrant.”
