PATCH PICKS: Summer Camps for Kids

There are a lot of options in the area for summer camps.

Mansfield Patch now runs a weekly feature called Patch Picks, highlighting editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off,  and more.

You’ll find useful lists to help you, your family, friends, and significant others find the best places for everything from Sunday brunch to various celebrations, pumpkin patches, date night destinations, florists, girlfriend nights out, kids party places, parks and more.

With the weather getting warmer, it's time to consider registering the kids for camps this summer and spring vacation. In no particular order, here are some interesting choices.

Mansfield Recreation Summer Camp

The Mansfield Park & Recreation Department is beginning to accept registrations for Mansfield residents for summer camp in the town's recreation office. Camp will run from July 5-Aug. 26. For more information, email recreation@mansfieldma.com or call the recreation department at 508-261-7384.

Maplewood Country Day Camp and Enrichment Center

A staple in South Easton, maplewood offers just about everything you could imagine in terms of fun and constructive activities.

Located on 30 wooded acres in South Easton, their expansive indoor and outdoor facilities along with our diverse program provide children with opportunities to learn, socialize, and have fun.

College Academy at Stonehill College

In its 33rd year, College Acadamy down the road at Stonehill offers an excellent option.

Through their desire to experience a summer full of unique and exciting challenges each participant embraces the  opportunity to discover a diverse, project based curriculum developed by each of our creative instructors.

Everwood Day Camp in Sharon

There will be an open house this coming Sunday from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Learn about the summer camp offerings for activities including arts and crafts, archery, sports, boating, dance, pioneering and more.

YMCA Summer Camps

The closest camp to home is in Stoughton, but the YMCA offers a variety of summer camps throughout the area.

Camp Clark in Plymouth, Camp Satucket in East Bridgewater, Camp Yomechas in Middleboro, Camp Massasoit in Brockton, and summer day camp in Stoughton are all good options.  YMCA Camp offers boys and girls a diverse mix of exciting and challenging day programs for the summer.

Camp Glee.

For those more interested in the performing arts, Camp Glee in Franklin offers an excellent option.

The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) will offer “Camp GLEE,” July 25 through July 29. This program is open to children in grades 5-12. Registration for summer programs begins March 7.
