Jimmy's Pub in Mansfield: A Mainstay for More Than 30 Years

Find out what's happening in Mansfieldwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

George Pantos has owned the Mansfield mainstay Jimmy’s Pub for more than 30 years, and has made more than just a dent on the community.

“It was a small town back then and there wasn’t very much around,” he said. “We opened the door and we’re straight out for 33 years.”

Pantos said that he’s seen Mansfield grow since then along with his restaurant, and there is, like many things, good and bad.

“I do feel bad to loose the small town stuff, like where you knew everybody,” he said. “But you do have the new influx from Boston and Worcester, and that’s new and exciting also. There are pros and cons to both venues. There’s been ups and downs in downtown Mansfield. It seems like were going to be seeing an up time.”

The Hornets will now play the North Quincy Red Raiders in the Division 1 South Sectional finals at UMass-Boston on March 9 at 8 p.m.

Mansfield Resident Returns From Leadership Mission to Israel

Mansfield resident and Jewish National Fund (JNF) New England Director Sara Hefez recently returned from a special mission to Israel led by National Campaign Director Sharon Freedman. The trip gave select JNF professionals the opportunity to see first-hand how JNF is enriching the land of Israel for all its inhabitants.

The group visited projects through the depth and breadth of the country, focusing on important sites in the south, known as the Negev. JNF is helping the Negev to blossom, and is realizing the full potential of the region for Israel’s economic future. The backbone of these strategic plans is known as Blueprint Negev. The cornerstone of this initiative is the revitalization of the city of Be’er Sheva, turning a sleepy pass-through town into the capital of the South.
