"Stealing Rembrandts" : Art Crime lecture with Anthony Amore

Anthony Amore, director
of security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, an art
crime expert and author of "Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Story of
Notorious Art Heists" will be visiting our library for a lecture and
book signing on Monday, October 21st at 6:30.

What drives a thief to steal a piece of artwork right off the museum
wall, often in broad daylight? What really happens to the artwork after
it’s stolen?

Amore’s lecture will include details about the
world’s most significant art crimes, include the unsolved Gardner museum
heist in 1990, when two thieves -- disguised as policemen -- stole 13
pieces of artwork, valued at $500 million. Amore has been leading the
efforts to track down the missing artwork since joining the museum in
2005.
