Mansfield Mothers Club: Here’s December

We all get caught up in the craziness, but if we remember what's really important we can make it a little easier on ourselves.

Oh my goodness. It’s that wonderful, almost always crazy and certainly hectic, time of year again! And, I love it.

I love the lazy, long weekend of Thanksgiving.

I love Christmas music. Actually, I think I love Christmas music even more since the year my son was born. Three years ago my son joined our family in early December, arriving weeks before his due date! I had a relatively short labor with him (for which I am eternally grateful) but it was in the middle of the night. My husband and I listened to Christmas music as the hours slipped by and the sun started to rise. I remember those first few weeks at home and the hours I would spend with him by myself and the Christmas music turned down low, just enough so we could hear it. Such special memories!

I also love taking my 6-year-old niece and my two young children out for drives to see the beautiful twinkling lights. I love how my son picks out our Christmas tree now. I love celebrating my mom’s birthday just a few short days after Christmas.

I love choosing tags off of a Giving Tree so I know that a young boy or girl has at least one special gift under the tree.

I love getting dressed up and going out with friends, splurging on a night out as a gift for each other.

I love that in our Mothers Club everyone has such creative ideas for activities. This month along we’ve got a cookie and wrapping-paper swap so members can trade baked goodies and share different patterned wrapping paper for their children’s gifts (adding an air of magic to gift giving). The regular playdates and museum trips are on our calendar as well as trial classes at Cheer Factor Tumbling in Foxboro and Kidville in Foxborough.

My holiday wish for all of you is to be able to concentrate on and enjoy the traditions of the season (old and new!) that are most important to you and your family. We all get caught up in the craziness, but if we remember what’s really important we can make it a little easier on ourselves.

What do you love most about this season?

PS - Keep an eye out for Club members Dec. 11, 10 a.m., at Frenzy in Norton, and Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., at Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro. Ask us how you can join!

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
