Mansfield Mothers' Club: Not Just a Bunch of Gossips

Contrary to one comment a member heard, we do not "sit around and gossip all day." Our organization is built on SUPPORT of each other in this great parenting adventure.

Our executive board and club members often are on the receiving end of questions from well-meaning family members and friends and not-so-subtle community members: What is it, exactly, that you people DO?

Contrary to one comment a member heard, we do not “sit around and gossip all day.” Forget any antiquated ideas you have about perfectionist-parent groups of years gone by (thank you Glennon Doyle Melton, among others). Our organization is built on SUPPORT of each other in this great parenting adventure.

Officially: “The Mansfield Mothers' Club is a local non-profit organization aimed at providing support for local parents.” Those needs shift with the families needs and ages of children involved in our club. What remains is a steadfast love of our families and a genuine caring for the folks in our community.

What form does all this support and caring take? Some ways are:

  • Meals for new parents and those going through health crisis or other hardships

  • An active Mansfield Relay For Life team, which supports the American Cancer Society (in fact, we have a fundraiser coming up Thursday, April 11, 10:00  a.m. at Mass Premier Courts, 97 Green St., Foxborough)

  • Food and monetary donations to Our Daily Bread, Mansfield’s food pantry

  • Individual fundraisers and donations to services such as Room To Grow

  • Several activities each week geared at different age groups and times of day

  • A vibrant Yahoo! Group email list and private Facebook group which shares questions and answers on topics as varied as how best to deal with teething, potty training, recommendations on summer camps, local handymen, area classes, finding activities for families with kids of varying ages, abilities, religions, and allergies. You name it, and we’ve got info and opinions on it!

  • Mothers Nights Out (and In!) each month to help us unwind

  • These spring months we’ve got a Spring Party happening at Maplewood Country Day Camp in Easton. We’re celebrating the warmer temperatures and exploring area playgrounds and parks and visiting each other’s homes with themed playtimes such as an Easter Egg Hunt, cookie decorating, chalk & bubble party and Cinco de Mayo party.

    We currently have more than 100 members, and we always have room for more! Our ranks include moms who are full-time mothers, full-time professional workers, entrepreneurs, freelance workers and everything in between. We even have a member who’s a dad!

    And, we chuckle but it’s true: many members join for the sole reason of receiving the informative monthly newsletter. To learn more email mansfieldmothersclub@gmail.com
