I Just Can't

Stop creating excuses as to why you can't do something because you don't have time. Really look at your schedule and you may be surprised at how much time that really is there for YOU.

We all have said at some point, "there is no way I can get it all done!" Sometimes that may be the case...sometimes. But, we tend to make up these excuses and turn them into realities. By making these thoughts reality, we tend to miss out on some things that are very important to us. I know, I know, "but Kerry, there are only 24 hours in a day." Yeah, that is true and there are 168 hours in a week. How we manage those hours will determine what we accomplish and let fall to the wayside.

Here are some examples of what I am talking about. Let's see if these are valid or can we manage to overcome the excuses and make it work?

"My work schedule changed, so I won't be able to get to classes at night anymore."
Okay, I understand work schedules do change and sometimes it means that you take on more. I also know that there is an adjustment period that you must go through. But, here is a simple solution: get up early and get yourself moving! I know the comfy bed hugs you and doesn't want to let you get up. Let's make that sacrifice and start creating a new habit for yourself. NO SNOOZE BUTTON! IT'S THE DEVIL! When the alarm goes off, get right out of bed and start moving.

"I have school, I have to study for an exam that is coming up soon."
Your school and studying is important but setting some time aside to get rid of some stress, anxiety, and pressure to do well will go a long way. Carve out a 30 minute break to workout at the gym or at home. I promise you, you will not regret it. The only thing you have to do is put it in the schedule.

"They gym closes too early on the weekends. I can't get there until later in the day."
In this case, let's look at what you're doing in the morning hours. Are you sleeping in late? Are you doing laundry? Cleaning the house? A simple solution to something like this is to do some rearranging. Let's move these chores to later in the day, tomorrow, or another day during the week. Last time I checked, washing machines and dryers do the work by themselves. You just have to hit the buttons.

Now, I know there are a million and one excuses being thrown around out there. Take all your excuses and seriously look at them. Look at how your day is laid out hour by hour. This IS time in there for you, you just have to move something around and prioritize it for yourself. Sit down and do this for a day or so. You may surprise yourself as to where your time is really going! As my man, Jerrod Mayo says, "get rid of the bag of excuses and just make it happen!"
