Beverly L. (Richards) Garland,

Beverly L. (Richards) Garland of Mansfield passed away Tuesday, May 15, at home. She was 82 years old. She was the recently widowed and beloved wife of the late James A. Garland for over 60 years.

Born in Brockton on August 1, 1929, she was the loving daughter of the late Arthur F. and Mildred (Anderson) Richards. She was raised and educated in Foxboro and at an early age began a Modeling Career and became involved in the Beauty Pageant industry where she held the title of "Cranberry Queen."

Mrs. Garland was the loving mother of James A. Garland Jr. and his wife Susan of Foster, RI, Daniel C. Garland and his wife Paula of North Attleboro, Sarah E. Garland of Manchester, VT and David A. Garland of Mansfield. She was the cherished grandmother of six and great-grandmother of one. She was the dear sister of Virginia Zelman of Rye, NY, Barbara Jones of CA and the late Phyllis Silvernail, Dorothy Copparini, and Jack Richards.

Memorial Visitation was weld at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main Street in Mansfield on Friday, May 18, followed by memorial service. Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Garland's memory to the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd Street, NY, NY 10128-6804

Louise (Cipriani) Cooper

Louise (Cipriani) Cooper, of Mansfield, passed away at home on Monday, May 14, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old. She was the beloved wife of Leonard Cooper.

Born in Mansfield Aug. 26, 1931, she was the loving daughter of the late Luigi and Maddalena Cipriani. Mrs. Cooper was a 1949 graduate of Mansfield High School.

She served as a crossing guard for the Mansfield Public Schools and was a matron for the Mansfield Police Department for 18 years. She was also an employee of Fairfield Optical Company for  number of years.

Mrs. Cooper was loving mother of Richard Cooper and his wife, Jean (Todesco) of Mansfield and Marie Cooper and son-in-law Paul Demusz of Stoughton. She was cherished grandmother of Christina, Elizabeth and John Cooper and the dear sister of Constance Rathub of Mansfield, Eleanor Piccolomini of Hyannis and Janet Rose of North Attleboro.

A funeral was held at Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main St., Mansfield, May 16, followed by interment in St. Mary's Cemetary. Donations can be made to the Community UNA Hospice Care, 10 Emory St, Attleboro, Ma.


Augustine P. Turnbull, Jr.

Augustine P. “Gus” Turnbull, Jr., 88, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor G. (McGrath) Turnbull, to whom he was wed on April 3, 1970.

Born in Boston, MA on January 20, 1924, he was a son of the late Augustine P., Sr. and Mary L. (Sullivan) Turnbull.

Mr. Turnbull grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was a graduate of B.C. High School. He furthered his education and was a graduate of Boston College Law School.

A retired social worker, Mr. Turnbull had worked for the State of MA/Social Services for the elderly on the South Shore, for 10 years prior to retiring. Following retirement, he worked part time helping others as a councilor at several area courts.

He had resided in Mansfield for the past 38 years and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. He was a former longtime resident of Jamaica Plain.

He was a former member and past president of the Live Y’ers Group at the Hockomock YMCA in North Attleboro, and was a former member of the Mansfield Democratic Town Committee.

In addition to his beloved wife of over 42 years, he is survived by his devoted children; Brian Turnbull and his wife Virginia of Bedford, Bruce Turnbull and his wife Linda of Lakeville, Paul Turnbull of Boston , Vincent Turnbull and his wife Virginia of CT, Philip Turnbull and his wife Lisa of CA, Martin Turnbull and his wife Paula of Westford, Susan Cohen and her husband Mark of Framingham and Aileen Turnbull and her husband Michael Reardon of Mansfield. He is also survived by his 13 cherished grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m.. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.

Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Turnbull’s memory may be made to the Live Y’ers Group at the Hockomock Area YMCA, 300 Elmwood St., North Attleboro, MA 02760.

Bruce Leavitt

Bruce Leavitt, 60, of Mansfield, formerly Dedham, passed away on Friday May 11, 2012, in the presence of his loving family, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Kit ( Hodder) Leavitt, to whom he was wed on February 14, 1992.

Born in Boston, MA on April 12, 1952, he was a dear son of John O., Jr. and Corrine B. (Zorn) Leavitt of Dedham.

Mr. Leavitt grew up in Dedham and was a 1970 graduate of Dedham High School. He furthered his studies and received an associates degree from Massasoit Community College and his bachelors degree in bio medicine from Tufts University.

Born in Boston, MA on April 12, 1952, he was a dear son of John O., Jr. and Corrine B. (Zorn) Leavitt of Dedham.

Mr. Leavitt grew up in Dedham and was a 1970 graduate of Dedham High School. He furthered his studies and received an associates degree from Massasoit Community College and his bachelors degree in Bio Medicine from Tufts University.

A resident of Mansfield for over 20 years, Mr. Leavitt was employed as a Bio Technician throughout New England.

An avid golfer, he  was a former member of the Wampatuck Country Club in Canton.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his devoted children; Private Austen J. Leavitt (MA National Guard) of Mansfield , Kathy Jo Cole and her husband Matthew of Columbus, Ohio and Kimberly Miller and her husband David of Medina, Ohio. He was the loving brother of John O. Leavitt, III and his wife Roberta of Warner, New Hampshire, Stephen Leavitt of London, England and Carol M. Flaherty and her husband Thomas of Norwood, and is also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Dedham, May 15.

Arrangements were handled by Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
