Mansfield Obituary: Walter Stowe

The following is the obituary for Walter H. Stowe, age 76, of Plainville, formerly of Norton and Mansfield.

Walter H. Stowe, age 76, of Plainville, formerly of Norton and Mansfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Harrington House in Walpole.

Born in Boston, MA on August 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Roland and Dorothy (Pettee) Stowe.

He grew up in Boston and was educated in Boston public schools. Walter honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. National Guard.

Mr. Stowe was a retired intake coordinator having worked for many years helping others at the North Cottage in Norton. He had previously been employed as a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker.

A resident of Plainville for the past 10 years, he had formerly lived for many years in Norton and Mansfield. Walter’s interests included day trading and playing games on his computer. He was also a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his devoted children, Walter J. Stowe and his wife Mary of Plainville, Kenneth J. Stowe and his wife Millicent of Deltona, Florida and Jackye M. Hughes and her husband Michael of Norton. He is also survived by his dear sisters and brother, Marion Muller of Mansfield, Evelyn Hunton of Winthrop and Ralph Stowe of Hull, as well as his cherished 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St, Mansfield.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Walter with a donation in his memory made to the North Cottage, 69 East Main St., Norton, MA 02766.
