Obits: Andreas Mastrandreas

Former Mansfield resident Andreas Mastrandreas passed away at the age of 80.

Andreas Mastrandreas, age 80, of Norfolk, formerly of Mansfield and Greece, passed away in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Irini (Skopelitou) Mastrandreas,

Born in Port Said, Egypt on December 3, 1932, he was a dear son of the late Elias and Marguerite (Vittori) Mastrandreas.

He grew up and was educated in Egypt and also graduated from college in Egypt. Prior to retiring , he worked for many years as an operations manager in the shipping industry.

A resident of Norfolk for the past 8 years, he was a member and benefactor of St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Mansfield. He was also a member and past master of the Parthenon Masonic Lodge in Manhattan, New York.

Mr. Mastrandreas’s favorite times spent were those with family. He was fluent in five languages; English, Greek, Italian, and Arabic French, and loved Greek music, Greek dancing and Greek Culture. His other interests included traveling and he was “always the life of the party”

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Evangelia Chris and her husband Rev. Dr. Emanuel Chris of Mansfield and Margarita Frongillo and her husband Thomas Frongillo of Norfolk. He was the cherished grandfather of Elina Chris and her fiance Michael Scavelli of New York, NY, Nicholas Chris of New York, NY and Alexi Frongillo of Norfolk. He is also survived by his dear brothers, Nicholas Mastrandreas and George Mastrandreas both of Paris, France, Anthony Mastrandreas of Greece and the late John Mastrandreas and Michael Mastrandreas.

Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 12:30 P.M. in St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church, 1007 West St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 25th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, Andreas’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church, 1007 West St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
