Obituary: Florabelle J. Ferrara

The following is the obituary for Florabelle Ferrara.

Florabelle J. (DeLauri) Ferrara, 89, of Plainville, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of Edmund Ferrara, to whom she was wed on February 9, 1942.

Born in Mansfield, MA on March 16, 1923, she was a loving daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Cutillo) DeLauri.

A resident of Plainville for the past 40 years, Flo grew up and was educated in Mansfield. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Ferrara had also worked at the former Fairfield Optical Co. in Mansfield and the Foxboro Co. in Foxboro.

Flo was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting, and she will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.

In addition to her beloved husband of over 70 years, she is survived by her devoted children; Edmund J. Ferrara of Norwood and Virginia A. Foster and her husband Douglas of Keene, New Hampshire. The dear sister of the late Nicholas DeLauri, Phillip DeLauri and Amelia Ryan, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Wendy Scott and Brian Foster both of Keene, New Hampshire and her great grandchildren; Douglas and Jason Foster and Evan Goodale and Brittnay Scott.

Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, July 21st at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield.

Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 2:00 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 20th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Flo’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the South Norfolk County Arc, 789 Clapboardtree St., Westwood, MA 02090.
