Obituary: Patricia E. Ruffing

Patricia E. (McLaughlin) Ruffing, age 62, of Attleboro, formerly of Mansfield passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 21, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Richard J. Ruffing, Sr. to whom she was wed on May 23, 1975.

Born in Stoneham, MA on October 4, 1950, she was a dear daughter of the late Edward J. and Beatrice I. (Sargent) McLaughlin.

Pat grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge. She had made her home in Attleboro for the past 12 years and had formerly resided in Mansfield. Mrs. Ruffing had worked for over 15 years as a secretary at Pediatric Specialists of Foxboro & Wrentham

While living in Mansfield, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Pat’s favorite times were those spent in the presence of her adoring family, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and vacationing on Cape Cod.

In addition to her beloved husband of 37 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Richard J. Ruffing, Jr. of Lexington, Kevin M. Ruffing and his wife Colleen of Peabody and Lauren E. Ruffing of Attleboro. She was the sister of Edward McLaughlin of New Hampshire and John “Jack” McLaughlin and his wife Dolly of Tewksbury. She was the cherished grandmother of Ava, Leah and Reid Ruffing and the late Owen Ruffing. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, January 25th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 24th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Patricia’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
