Born in Norwood, MA on April 6, 1947, he was a son of the late Leslie and Epke (Dost) Fitzsimmons. He grew up in Mansfield and was educated in Mansfield public schools.

During the Vietnam War, Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on August 5, 1964 with rank of SR E-1.

A retired printer Mr. Fitzsimmons had worked for over 15 years at Quebecor World, formerly known as Retail Printing in Taunton, prior to retiring. Because of his vast knowledge of the companies printing equipment, he was the one employee who could always be counted on to get broken equipment up and running again.

A resident of Norton for over 40 years, Bob was an avid gardener and was known for his green thumb, and the variety of vegetables he grew annually in his yard. He loved traveling and especially helping others plan their vacations.

His favorite times spent were those in the presence of his adoring family. He lived to tell stories and jokes, which fascinated family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted children; Shannon B. Fitzsimmons of Norton, Lindsay K. O’Brien of Taunton, Troy R. Fitzsimmons of Attleboro, Garth M. Fitzsimmons of Cumberland, RI, Wendy Pizzulo of New York and Patty Cokely of Raynham. The dear brother of Judy Valley of Walpole and the late Carol Paquette and Joan Fitzsimmons, he is also survived by his many cherished grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his close friend Robin Castelli and her son Matthew.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January 14th from 2-4 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.

Services will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 4:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
