Obiturary: Lifelong Mansfield Resident Virginia Keating

Virginia M. (Ellis) Keating passed away on April 12.

Virginia M. (Ellis) Keating, age 96, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur L. Keating, Sr., to whom she was wed for 60 years at the time of his death in 1997.

Born in Mansfield, MA on December 3, 1916, she was a dear daughter of the late Clarence and Harriet (White) Ellis. She grew up in Mansfield and was a 1934 graduate of Mansfield High School.

Virginia was a dedicated homemaker to her loving family, and prior to raising her children had worked for 10 years till 1943 as a Telephone Operator at the former New England Telephone Co.

Mrs. Keating was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She loved spending time, along with family, in the comfort of her home in Mansfield.

She was the devoted mother of Robin M. Nunes and her husband Steven of Mansfield and the late Jill M. Anthony and Arthur L. Keating, Jr. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kim Anthony, Becky Anthony, Stacee Savage, Greg Keating, Lori Rego, Carl Nunes and Paul Nunes, her great grandchildren, Kalyn Valencia, Jack Valencia and James Logan, her nieces, Terre Wolak, Deborah Gardner and nephew, William Chase.

Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aril 17th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Sat. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 16th from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers and gift plants. Virginia’s family would prefer that donations in her memory be made to Our Daily Bread, the Mansfield Food Pantry, 15 West Street, Mansfield, MA 02048.
