About 50 Evacuated from Senior Living Community

The Mansfield Fire Department said Approximately 50 people were evacuated from a senior living community Sunday night because of a malfunctioning heating unit, according to the Sun Chronicle.

The first and second floors of the lodge at the Village at Willow Crossings on Cobb Street were evacuated at about 8:30 p.m. after a heating unit began smoking, said the fire department.

The residents were sheltered in other parts of the building and were able to return to their rooms Sunday night. There were no injuries and no damage, except for the heating unit, which produced smoke but no flames.
