District Attorney's Office says Brockton Man Killed in Mansfield Double Shooting

Second victim's name not released.

One man is dead, a second injured, in a double shooting early this morning in Mansfield.

Gregg Miliote,  the spokesperson for Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, said in a press release, that Aderito Cardoso, 22, of Brockton was shot and killed earlier today at 2904 Francis Avenue in Mansfield.

A second man, also involved in the double shooting, is said to be suffering non-life threatening injuries in a Boston hospital. Authorities are not releasing his name at this time.

According to the press release, police received a 911 call reporting shots fired at 3:42 a.m. from neighbors at the Village at Mansfield Depot apartment complex, located on Francis Avenue.

According to Lieutenant Richard Fiske of the Mansfield Fire Department, the two victims were transported to Boston via MedFlight from Mansfield Municipal Airport. Cardosa was transported to Beth Isreal Deaconess Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, said Miliote in the press release.

The investigation is ongoing and involves Mansfield and State police detectives, and Homicide Unit prosecutors from the District Attorney's office.

The 2010 Mansfield registered voter list shows a Nicole Baker, 22 as the person residing at the address of the incident.
