Foxborough Handles Two Fires with Help from Mansfield

Mansfield firefighters help Foxborough fire.

Two fires occured in Foxborough an hour apart and across town this afternoon.

Foxborough and Mansfield firefighters were called to 19 Mirimichi Road at 2:30 p.m. after ashes from a fireplace reignited, causing an outside fire on a wood pile, Foxborough Fire Capt. Ed Noonan said.

The fire extended to the garage, causing damage to the garage exterior, as well as minimal damage to the interior, he said.

No one was injured, Noonan said.

Then, at 3:30 p.m., a Foxborough ambulance took a 15-year-old male to Norwood Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation after a fire at a three-family apartment house at 9 Maple Ave., Noonan said.

A candle in the bathroom ignited a nearby combustible, causing smoke damage to the first-floor apartment, Noonan said.

A family was displaced for the night, he said.

Foxborough firefighters responded alone to the scene, Noonan said.
