Kitchen and Attic Fire on Stearns Ave. Extinguished by Mansfield FD

Mansfield fire extinguished a fire this morning on Stearns Ave.

At a little past 11 a.m. this morning, Mansfield fire responded to a house fire on Stearns Ave. after receiving a report of smoke coming out of the home.

According to Fire Chief Neal A. Boldrighini, the fire started in the kitchen before working it’s way up into the attic. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire was put out about 20 minutes after fire crews arrived on the scene. Firefighters did have to make a hole in the roof of the home to assist with removing smoke from the attic.

One female was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation.

The family living in the home was displaced due to extensive smoke and fire damage. The American Red Cross is assisting the family with emergency temporary shelter at a hotel along with funds for food and clothing.
