Large Fluid Spill in Mansfield

At about 9 a.m. on Monday, Mansfield Fire responded to a call from Waste Management reporting a spill of hydraulic fluid on West Street.

Representatives from WM reported about eight gallons of the fluid had spilled, leaving a trail on West Street from Gilbert Street through Cowan Lane.

WM representatives were already mitigating the spill with speedy dry when Mansfield Firefighters arrived on scene.

Mansfield Fire assisted in the cleanup, as well as the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the Clean Harbors Organization. Both the DEP and Clean Harbors stayed on the scene three hours after their arrival to ascertain the situation and confirm the cleanup.
