Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Gas Leak, MVA and Severe Hand Trauma

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS Log from June 18 to June 24.

The Mansfield Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to a total of 53 calls last week.

June 18

5:27 p.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a mutual aid call regarding a motor vehicle collision on Main Street in Foxborough. One patient was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

10:50 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting an outside odor of natural gas on North Main Street. The buildings in the area showed negative for gas levels but the street itself showed positive. The gas company confirmed that there was a leak coming from the road way itselt. The manholes on the street were ventilated and gas readings dropped significantly. The gas company was able to find and mitigate the leak.

1:49 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a worker’s hand had become stuck and seriously injured in a machine. The worker’s hand was extradited from the machine and he was then flown from Mansfield via Medflight to Massachusetts General Hospital for severe trauma to his hand.
