Watch out on the road; accident rates in Mansfield are increasing

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS log. The Mansfield Fire Department and EMS responded to 48 calls from May 9-15.

May 10

10:39 p.m. Mansfield EMS responded to call at the Catman Cafe for a male with a head laceration. Party was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

May 13

1:14 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call at 11 Atwood St. reporting smoke in the building. The building was found to be hazy with smoke and firefighters read minor carbonmonixide levels. The smoke was apparently caused by a malfunctioning oil burner, and was ventilated.

9:21 a.m. EMS responded to call for a female fall victim at Home Depot. Party was transported to Sturdy Memorial.

1:03 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call on the Foxborough/Mansfield line in which a vehicle had struck a telephone pole. One party in the accident was extracted from the vehicle and air lifted to a hospital. Two other passengers were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

May 14

9:05 a.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a call on South Main St. reporting a female party with a head laceration. Party was transported to Norwood Hospital.

May 15

12:02 Mansfield EMS responded to a call reporting that a four-year-old child was having difficulty breathing and needed an ambulance. EMS personnel administered on-site assistance to the child, and then transported him to Cartias.
