Mansfield Police Assist in Investigation into Woburn Officer Shooting

As part of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, Mansfield officers were on the scene of the police officer shooting in Woburn,

Mansfield Police were called to Woburn Tuesday to assist in helping find the individuals involved in the shooting of Woburn police officer Robert DeNapoli. Mansfield is part of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council.

"Since [Woburn Police] were dealing with some armed and dangerous people, they brought together all the tactical teams in the Metro LEC,” Mansfield Police Chief Arthur O’Neill said.

DeNapoli was listed in "good condition" this morning at Lahey Clinic in Burlington after he  Tuesday, according to hospital spokesman Steve Danehy.

DeNapoli was shot while responding to an armed robbery at shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

"He received serious injuries from multiple gunshot wounds," said Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone Tuesday afternoon. "We are fully confident and expectant that he will recover from those injuries."

During the course of the response to the armed robbery, Leone said DeNapoli and another WPD officer discharged their firearms.

 Tuesday. At least one, and possibly up to three suspects, remain at large, said Leone.

According to the Boston Globe, police officers from all across the state, including Mansfield and over 100 State Troopers, are assisting in the investigation.

These teams are house under the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, which is a network of over 40 Massachusetts law enforcement agencies aimed at identifying unknown criminal suspects.
