Mansfield Police Log: Road Rage, Snowballs and OUI

The following information was provided by the Mansfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction. Events noted in this log occurred between Dec. 27 and Dec. 30, 2012.

Dec. 29

1:41 p.m. Caller reported her vehicle was broken into while parked on Wood Avenue. Stereo equipment was reported stolen from the vehicle.

2:50 p.m. Caller reported a hit and run at the Stop and Shop parking lot.

Dec. 30

3:59 a.m. Plow operator reported a low hanging wire on Maple Street.

1:07 p.m. Multiple caller reported an altercation between two motor vehicle operators at the intersection of Route 140 and Chauncy Street. The victim in the incident stated that the offending operator got out of his car and punched him in the chin through the driver’s side window. Victim refused medical transport. Offending driver was described as a white male, approximately six feet tall with a hoodie.

8:31 p.m. Caller reported youths throwing snowballs at buildings. Caller stated that the youths “mooned” him when he tried to stop them verbally.

9:16 p.m. One juvenile, aged 16, was arrested for domestic assault and battery and felony malicious destruction of property.

9:38 p.m. Michael O’Brien, 24, of 337 Franklin St. was arrested for operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
